Refunds and cancellation

The short version: ask within 14 days and you get your money back. The rest of this page is the detail, including the rights you have by law whatever we say.

Our promise

If you bought Draftpin Pro and you want your money back, email george@hgmartist.net within 14 days of buying and we will refund you in full. You do not have to give a reason and we will not ask you for one.

We can do that because the free tier is the whole application. You have already used Draftpin before you paid for it, so a refund means we did not add what you hoped, which is worth knowing rather than arguing about.

Your legal right to cancel

Separately from our promise, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you a right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days of the day the contract is made. What follows is how that right applies here, honestly, including when it stops applying.

A one-off licence

A licence key is digital content, and it is delivered immediately. The law lets you give up the cancellation right in exchange for getting it straight away, but only if you were asked clearly and said yes. That is why the checkout asks you to tick two separate boxes: one to say you want the key immediately, and one to say you understand that this ends your right to cancel. Both are unticked until you tick them, and both are recorded with your purchase.

If you ticked them and the key was issued, the statutory right has ended. Our own 14 day promise above still applies, so in practice you can still ask.

If you did not tick them, or we never confirmed your choice to you in writing, the statutory right did not end. You may cancel within 14 days and you will pay nothing at all.

A monthly subscription

A subscription works differently, and in your favour. It is a service supplied over time rather than a single delivery, so the right to cancel is not lost the moment you receive your key. If you cancel within 14 days of first subscribing, you get your money back less a proportionate amount for the days you had access to Pro.

After those 14 days, cancelling stops the next payment. It does not refund the period you are already in, because you keep Pro until that period ends.

How to cancel

Any of these is enough. You do not need a form.

• Email george@hgmartist.net and say you want to cancel.
• For a subscription, use the billing link in your receipt. If you signed up online you can cancel online, in one step, without asking anyone.
• Or use the form below, if you would rather use the official wording.

How long a refund takes

We refund without undue delay and in any event within 14 days of being told you are cancelling. It goes back by the same means you paid, and there is no fee for cancelling.

What happens to your key

A licence key stops working when the purchase behind it is refunded, reversed or charged back. That is a condition of the licence rather than a penalty: the licence is granted in exchange for the price, so if the price comes back the licence ends. Draftpin returns to the free tier and keeps working. Nothing on your computer is deleted, and your saved pins and routes stay where they are.

Refunds we do not issue ourselves

Payment is taken by Stripe, which is the merchant of record for your purchase. That means Stripe can also issue a refund directly, including in some cases without asking us first. The effect on your licence is the same either way. If you contact Stripe rather than us, that is a valid way to get your money back and we will not treat it as anything else.

If you are not happy

Email george@hgmartist.net and you will get a reply from a person within three working days. We do not currently subscribe to an alternative dispute resolution scheme, which we would rather say plainly than leave you to discover.

Nothing on this page affects your legal rights. Where our promise gives you more than the law requires, you get the more generous one.
